چکیده

In this paper, the nuclear modification factors, RxA, are investigated for pion production in small system collisions, measured by PHENIX experiment at RHIC (Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider). The theoretical framework is parton transverse momentum kT-factorization formalism hard processes fraction, x. Evidence collective expansion and thermal effects pions, produced equilibrium, studied based on phenomenological parametrization of blast-wave type relaxation time approximation. dependencies centrality projectile species discussed terms behavior Cronin peak suppression RxA large momentum, pT. multiplicity particles, which sensitive to soft sector spectra, also included present analysis.

The perturbative QCD factorization approach in high energy nuclear collisions

I discuss the systematic modifications to the perturbative QCD factorization approach in high energy l+A, p+A and A+A reactions. These include transverse momentum diffusion manifest in the Cronin effect and a small increase in the dijet acoplanarity; nuclear size enhanced power corrections that lead to shadowing in deeply inelastic scattering and suppression of single and double inclusive hadro...

Hydrodynamics of Nuclear Collisions with Initial Conditions from Perturbative Qcd

We compute the longitudinal hydrodynamic flow in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions at √ s = 5500 GeV by using boost non-invariant initial conditions following from perturbative QCD. The transfer of entropy and energy from the central region to larger rapidities caused by boost non-invariance is determined and the associated decrease in the lifetime of the system is estimated. kari.eskola@c...

Novel Qcd Effects in Nuclear Collisions*

Heavy ion collisions can provide a novel environment for testing fundamental dynamical processes in QCD, including minijet formation and interactions, formation zone phenomena, color filtering, coherent co-mover interactions, and new higher twist mechanisms which could account for the observed excess production and anomalous nuclear target dependence of heavy flavor production. The possibility ...

Qcd in Nuclear Collisions * †

The relationship between RHIC and HERA data is explored using the idea of saturation (color glass condensate) as a unifying framework for interpretation. A description of the early stages of a heavy ion collision is given consistent with the RHIC results. The relevant QCD dynamics at the various stages of a heavy ion collision, from production of gluons to equilibration, is reviewed. Some comme...

Elliptic flow and nuclear modification factor in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions within a partonic transport model.

The quark gluon plasma produced in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions exhibits remarkable features. It behaves like a nearly perfect liquid with a small shear viscosity to entropy density ratio and leads to the quenching of highly energetic particles. We show that both effects can be understood for the first time within one common framework. Employing the parton cascade Boltzmann approach t...
